BLiPSWiTCH presents
an EVENING LENGTH WORK by Anna Bauer + Jairus Carr

When I look at the moon, I feel that I’m seeing something important. Staring up at this vast, impersonal rock up in the sky (more of a concept than a physical object if I’m being honest), I feel that I might love it, and it might even love me in return. There’s a sort of unreal, fantastical relationship between us, the moon and I. You might even say it’s romance.

Our first evening-length work, Love you, moon, is not really about the moon, but it is about the feeling it gives us. The fantasy, the specter, the socialized ideal of romance and what it looks like. Being loved, cared for, held by soft and beautiful light in the night. It’s also about honesty, or an attempt at it– how awkward it is to actually love people platonically, intimately, domestically, and yes, romantically. And Love you, moon is also just a 50 minute dance that explores intimacy in partnering, in gesture, in eye contact, in big physical phrasework, in slow gentle leanings-on-each-other. This show takes place in a warehouse-turned-Airbnb. As an audience member, expect to take a bit of a wandering journey throughout the entire space before eventually finding your seat. Ultimately, this work is about whatever you want it to be about, as most things are. As the moon is. It’s so far away anyways, what’s the harm in fantasy?
