Hyperbaton
for Performa/Dance’s Pivot

AustinVentures StudioTheater | Austin, TX

A hyperbaton is “a figure of speech that uses disruption or inversion of customary word order to produce a distinctive effect", and we used it as a thesis for our choreographic direction of this work. Movement was arranged, disassembled, rearranged, repeated, reversed and reinserted for emphasis. With pink lemonade color and energy, super-power dancers Carissa Topham Fisher, Taryn Lavery, Katie Lowen, Alex Miller and Lisa Schreck brought this thesis to life, heightened by dynamically sweeping composition from Michael Brown and Brett Marcom.
“Hyperbaton” was very (un)simply the one with the dance, that for twenty minutes the gang does.
